CJ and his mom Burgandy, who contacted Well Being Studio’s Little Green Monster Project through our website from a transitional homeless shelter. CJ is 18 months old with retinoblastoma and his mother was looking for resources and a scoop of joy for CJ during this treatment. The Little Green Monster sent them a book and duffle with little monster friend plushy. We also sent Mom online financial resources for families impacted by cancer and poverty, as well as donated gift cards to help them through this difficult time. CJ named his monster Grrr!, fed it spaghetti and brought it to his chemotherapy treatments.

Jordan and Riley, whose mother was undergoing treatment for stomach cancer and has since passed away, attended our multi-session workshop series at a hospital. Their father told us he was so happy to bring his children to make art, read, and talk about emotions and cancer at the workshops. He shared that his kids feel more confident talking about what is happening to their mother and he felt more willing to share his own feelings with them.

June, a mother who arrived at a cancer support office feeling desperate to help her son, who was suffering from sadness during his father’s lymphoma treatment. A social worker handed the mother a copy of The Little Green Monster: Cancer Magic! (donated by Well Beings Studio) and pointed out the activities in the back of the book, including a letter that the son could write to his father. The social worker told us she felt secure knowing she had WBS resources at her finger tips to help June and other families in need.
